Healing
Music

“Hippie” music has played a major part in my life.  In fact, I credit it with helping to save my life.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.  This is filler text.

I cut “mainstream” music out of my life 6-7 years ago.

So I rarely know the songs on the radio.

At first, I replaced it with NPR, Fox News, and other talk radio.  Sometimes a little classic rock made the cut.

The main purpose was cutting out modern hip hop.

Rap is fun and all but most of it bad for your brain.

At the very least, I find that it is bad for my mind, heart, and spirit.

More recently, I’ve replaced talk radio for the same reasons.

Podcasts and various industry training are a marked improvement.

Still, I looooooooooove music.  I love to sing.  I love to dance.  I love all the instruments.

That’s where these beautiful souls come in.

Nahko

Nahko and Gary Vee teamed up with my guardian angels to save my life.

Thanks to him, I will always believe in the good things coming.

Black as Night shone as a little light on me when I was in a very dark place.

Wash It Away is a powerful force in my life, used consistently as a forgiveness catalyst.

I will build a Build a Bridge to the future my sons deserve.

It’s important to remember that We Are (Always) on Time

I am so thankful that My Wolf Has Returned.

This concert at Caliroots is amazing, especially the violin with Dear Brother and the Wolves Have Returned medley at the end.

The return. 🙏🙏🙏

Tash

My first son’s name is Tash.

That actually kept me away from this girl for awhile.  YouTube had suggested her countless times.  Jungle was the only song on Fifa ’18 I liked even before I knew who she was.

But I stayed away, until the perfect moment.

I’m not sure why I finally decided to click one of her videos.

Whatever the case, I almost immediately fell in love.

Notion brings me to tears more consistently that any song, even Wash It Away.

I can hear the angels sing with her, even on the streets.

Brain Flower makes me dance, without fail.

Synergy is just something else.

And I just love her version of Electric Feel (Dunno the original at all).

One-Offs

Amazingly, there are other people like Nahko and Tash.

We truly live on a blessed planet, at a blessed time.

Saratone was actually my introduction to this kind of music and the healing power therein.

Matisyahu caught my by surprise “one day” and I immediately listened to this song like 100 times in 3 days.

Round and Around is similarly simple and similarly powerful.

I don’t even understand but the tears the first time I heard this one were epic.

I bet Gaia uses Thank You Very Much for her gratitude practice.

Listen.  Enjoy.  Share.  Love.  Grow.

Top Five Sources of Healing

01

Nahko & Medicine for the People

Gary Vaynerchuk is the first man the adult me could acknowledge as a “hero.”  Without Gary Vee, my hero profiles might not even exist.  Certainly, the whole idea of a G.O.A.T. Rank is a tribute to my admiration for him.

02

Tash Sultana

Vishen may be the man I look up to more than any other.  His mission of education reform may be the most important of any of my heroes.  Over the long-term he may be the favorite for the top spot.

03

Rising Appalachia

Naruto is the most inspiring character I’ve ever come across.  What I’ve learned from him is unique.  And yet, his story seems inevitable, almost perfect.  Watching Naruto, I felt as if it was written from my own heart.

04

Sofar Sessions

To this point, I might have learned more from Brian Johnson than any other person on the planet.  He has created a library of classic and modern teachings on becoming the best you and living your best life.

05

Sugar Shack Sessions

Brendon Burchard is one of the world’s leading high performance coaches.  Before I met Gary Vee, I filled my house with Brendon’s voice almost everyday.  His content was the first I used to brainwash myself.

Music for Saving Me

Over the last few years, I’ve learned a lot from Gary Vee.  He touches on a lot of different things.  I think many of his messages help make the world a better place.  Here are the topics he teaches me the most about.

How Gary Vee and Nahko Bear Teamed Up to Save My Life

Once upon a time, I was in a deep, dark place. It was completely self-imposed. I loved a girl.  She gave me the world's greatest kids. But I was a dick.  So she ran away with them.  Good on her. It fucking huuuuuuuuurt though. It almost did me in. How? It took me so...

Grateful as Fnck

Okay.  Okay.  Okay. I know.  I know.  I know. I need to start writing on this blog. And while this post may not connect well to any of the bigger things I want to do with my life, it is connected to my life. Ya see? I have a daily gratitude practice... ...and it has...
