Fundamental of Achievement
Achieving
Great Things
Achievement is one of the fundamentals of a great life. Many of us seek “success.” Yet few of us ever feel that we’ve found it. Achieving great things is no small feat. Whether at home or out in the world, success demands sacrifice, determination, and the ability to overcome.
Tier
What Is Achievement?
Achievement is the realization of a worthy goal—in other words, success. Personal achievements often require effort, skill, determination, and courage. But the biggest achievements also require teamwork. High achievers often value harder challenges the most.
Why Achievement?
Achievement is one of the things that drives me the most. When my life is over, I want to feel that I’ve lived the life of a “great” man.
I don’t claim to be an expert on anything I write about.
Hell, I hardly claim to be an expert on myself. 😂😂😂
These breakdowns are largely for me. I use them to record and reference. Unlike most others on this site though, this goal setting page might actually be useful to the outside observer.
No promises. You can tell me.
Human Drive
The seed of achievement is in all of us. Our species has an innate desire to go farther than the generations before us.
Leading By Example
I want to teach my sons how to do great things. The best way to do so is by doing great things myself.
World Building
Achievement built the modern world. By chasing our unique version of success, we make life better for others.
Love of the Journey
There is happiness to be found in the pursuit of great things. Nothing else feels quite like chasing your dreams.
There’s a lot that goes into achieving great things. Here’s a quick look at what the journery to success has been like for me.
Learn with Me
My success is only just beginning.
I’ve been seeking greatness for a little over a decade.
There were a lot of things I had to clean up about myself first. Indeed, I still have plenty of things to work on. But that’s what chasing your potential is all about.
My early-twenties self would certainly be proud of me though. I’ve already achieved things I never would have expected.
Yet I know it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Everything I do now is for my sons’ futures. I’m teaching myself how to achieve great things so that I can model it for them. That’s why I’m so dedicated to chasing true success in all areas of my life.
And I document that journey as I go, as seen on This Site.
My Experience
I’ve only had a small taste of achievement.
I don’t have any substantial accomplishments yet.
But it feels like I’m nearing the cusp of greatness. Ultimately, my goals are a mile high so I know I have a long way to go in the grand scheme of things.
Still, I’m starting to see my hard work pay off.
My businesses are growing. My finances are improving. Every year, more of my goals are getting checked off the list.
It’s simple really. My life gets closer to the reality I want as I get closer to the person I want to be. Sure, there’s an ebb and flow to it. However, things are undoubtedly speeding up for me.
From where I sit, the future looks very bright.

Achieving Success in Any Area of Life
For success-seeking newbies:
Let’s start with the best advice up front.
Just get started.
If you really want to achieve something, you have to put in the work. Without that, nothing else matters. You cannot wish your way to success, despite what the Law of Attraction gurus say.
The bigger the accomplishment you’re shooting for, the more work will be required.
There’s no escaping it.
So start today.
Sure, you may need to learn some things or acquire a few skills to achieve your Goals. But that is just part of the process. In most cases, experience is the best teacher anyway.
You’re going to have to get your hands dirty eventually.
Why wait?
If it’s really important to you, putting in the time and effort should be a given.
Beyond that, you’ll probably discover that you need to make some changes to bring your dreams to life. Embrace it. The journey to success runs parallel to the journey of becoming the best you.
In most cases, hard work is just the first requirement.
Develop Character. Create a champion’s Mindset. Become Patient yet urgent. Overcome Obstacles. Learn how to do Deep Work. Achieving big goals usually demands all of these things and more. You’re likely to find that you become a perpetual work-in-progress. That’s why Personal Growth is so important.
Hell, you might even have to Brainwash Yourself completely.
Luckily though, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. In the “Information Age,” knowledge is abundant. There is an unending list of high achievers you can study and learn from. There may not be a guaranteed path to success but you can mirror strategies that have worked for others. Some of them will surely work for you too.
You can improve your Grit, Discipline, and Work Ethic.
You can make High Performance a Habit.
In due course, you can rise to such a level that a spirit of “I am undeniable” becomes a part of your Self Identity.
After all, who you believe yourself to be often matters most.
Again, it’s all about becoming the best you. Chase your potential and achievement becomes a by-product. Squeeze everything out of yourself that you can, everyday. High-level days lead to high-level weeks, which lead to high level months, which lead to high level years, which lead to a high-level life.
If your goals are really big, you’ll probably become responsible for other people. Usually, that means becoming an Entrepreneur. This brings “soft skills” like Leadership, Delegation, and Compassion into the equation. In most cases, greater success demands greater duty.
After all, having a positive impact on humanity is one of the best reasons to strive for achievement.
Great achievements tend to improve the quality of human life. Think about the lightbulb, the automobile, the airplane, the computer, the Internet, the smartphone. You could also include less tangible achievements like great books and works of art. Even athletic achievements have the ability to inspire.
The more you achieve, the more useful you become to your fellow man.
So ask yourself:
Do you want to live in a better world (that you helped make that way)?
If the answer is yes, you know what you need to do. Commit to your objective and work backwards from there to identify what you need to do everyday. Then wake up and do it.
Good luck. We’re all pulling for you. ❤️
How to Achieve Great Things Step-By-Step
01
Discover Your Why
If you don’t want it bad enough, you won’t do what is necessary to achieve it. Most people lack the motivation to chase success—much less greatness. Without a strong enough “why,” it’s nigh on impossible to set high enough standards to achieve your dreams.
02
Establish Goals
Goal setting is one of the fundamentals of success. Sure, there are some things you can accomplish by chance. But who you can be without goals pales in comparison to who you can be with goals. Setting big goals is generally a prerequisite of reaching greatness.
03
Develop Skills
If you’re going to do anything meaningful, you’ll need meaningful skills. Talent alone is never enough. Whether it’s writing, money management, marketing, or simply the ability to communicate, achievement generally requires mastery in your given domain.
04
Cultivate Character
Great Character is one of the pillars of becoming a great person. In order to achieve significant things, Discipline is often the most important trait. But it’s certainly not the only one. Confidence, Self Awareness, Compassion, Mindfulness, and many others also matter.
05
Hone Your Habits
On the path to achievement, how you behave every day tends to matter more than anything else. Your habits reveal a lot about your true intentions. It’s not about what you say, it’s about what you do. Create great habits and you’re halfway to creating a great life.
06
Refine Commitment
It’s really easy to fall off. But the more Consistent you are, the richer your life will be. It’s one thing to do work hard on your goals for a week. It’s another to commit everyday for years at a time. Prove how serious you are by sharpening your blade again and again.
07
Overcome Obstacles
No matter what your aim is, there will always be challenges. It’s just a part of the journey. Few things ever go according to plan. If you really want to do great things (better yet, be great), you’ll have to find a way to fight through the inevitability of difficult moments.
08
High Performance
Once you’ve got all the prior steps down, you have the opportunity to reach rare airs. The lens of history perhaps looks more favorably on High Performers than anyone else. It’s fairly obvious why. Those who achieve greatness are the rarest and most useful among us.
09
Rinse & Repeat
The true path of the high achiever is a never-ending journey. Once you complete one goal, move on to the next challenge. Shift the goal posts and go farther than you ever have before. In doing surpassing your limits, you set yourself up for even greater things.
Remember: just start. Most people don’t accomplish much because they never try. Beginning the journey puts you in the top 10%.

I’m no high performance titan. I stand on the shoulders of giants. I simply listen to what my Heroes say and apply it. Not everything sticks. But enough does to make a lasting impact.

Dump
One of the main purposes of This Site is to catalog my learnings. I’m not that learned. But I’m working on becoming moreso. If you see a “data dump” on this site, you’re looking at unsorted information. It may be related or completely unrelated, depending on the topic.
Think Like a Grandmaster
PNTV: Black Hole Focus
1. Sheep vs. Strategists – 0:59
- In biology, sheep only respond to what’s in front of them. And many people are like sheep, only responding to the most recent stimuli
- A strategist is stepping back and asking “what’s the vision and what’s the strategy for my future?”
- If all you’re doing is going through your life like a sheep, then you’ll have a tough time living a life of deep purpose
2. Ikigai – 3:03
- Japanese word referring to a reason to get up in the morning
- That purpose gives you energy and vitality
- Linked with some of the most long-lived populations
3. Rats Swim – 4:34
- An interesting study from the ’50s about how long rats could swim before giving up
- Was found that typically, the rats would swim for 15 minutes before giving up and sinking
- Then he tested what would happen if he pulled them out before the 15 minutes for a break and put them back. If given breaks, they could swim for 60 hours (or 240x more endurance). This is potentially attributable to a sense of hope.
- Hope is the belief that your future is going to be better than your present. And having hope in a better future creates energy
4. Greatness x2 – 7:20
- The two steps of greatness are 1. KNOW! that you can achieve greatness (or believing that you can go the distance) and 2. Decide what you’re going to commit yourself to (finding the courage to dive head-first into one thing)
- If you could do anything and you were guaranteed not to fail, what would you go for. It’s less about specifically what you want, but more about finding the courage to do it.
- 99% of people don’t think they’re capable of greatness, so they set lower goals
- There’s more competition for low-hanging fruit
5. Singularity – 11:02
- The physics of your purpose
- A singularity is infinite density and infinitesimal volume combined at the center of a black hole
- When you’re willing to commit that intensity with that singularity focus, everything gets sucked into it
- It takes a ton of energy to do great work and you can’t dissipate it on trivial distractions

How I Chase Great Achievements
If you haven’t noticed, I take this stuff seriously.
You don’t have to do it like me. But maybe you wanna know. So I guess I’ll tell you. You might have picked some of it up by reading through this page or clicking on some of the links.
I’ll spell it all out here.
Business Building
Building a wildly successful business is going to be my first significant achievement. So far, I’ve built a small marketing company, Greensboro SEO Pro, and a few fledgling Brands. There is still much work before any of these could be considered great in any real way. Eventually though, I am determined to become known for my abilities as an Entrepreneur.
Writing
I’m trying to become a prolific writer. Eventually, I’d like to become an author. I have a few fiction ideas but I know I’m more likely to write nonfiction books, at least at first. For me, writing isn’t just a path to achievement. It’s also a cathartic Daily Practice. Yet I know without a doubt that it is one of my greatest gifts I can share with the world.
Self Mastery
Becoming the greatest version of myself may be the biggest goal I could ever pursue. I was born with tremendous potential. Yet in my teens and early twenties I did nearly everything in my power to ensure I wouldn’t live up to it. Since my sons were born though, I started to take my life by the balls. Now, I am committed to becoming a great man.
Raise High Achievers
Fatherhood is hands-down my greatest joy in life. In my opinion, becoming a good father is probably the greatest challenge a man can undertake. In order to raise children who are capable of doing great things, you have to be someone capable of doing great things yourself. That’s because modeling will always be the best Parenting strategy.
Athletics
Growing up, I was always an athlete, playing football into my mid-20s. I also received a black belt before I hit my teens. Since becoming an adult, I’ve been less active. However, I’ll never let myself get completely out of shape. And as I age, I miss competition more and more. So I’m planning to earn another black belt and win another championship.
