Brainwashing
Self brainwashing is one of the most powerful tools in the Overachiever’s Toolkit. If you want better outputs, take control of your inputs. Clear out the junk that comes from society and your personal history. Then replace it with new patterns that actually move your life forward.

What Is Self Brainwashing?
Self brainwashing is the process of programming one’s own mind with specific intentions. It can be used to modify behavior, promote desireable character virtues, and/or eliminate character vices. Done right, it can have profound impact across multiple areas of life.
Why Brainwash Yourself?
Take control of your mind. To a large degree, your mental space determines the quality of your life.  So brainwash yourself—or the world will do it for you.
I don’t claim to be an expert on anything I write about.
Hell, I hardly claim to be an expert on myself.  😂😂😂
These breakdowns are largely for me. I use them to record and reference. Unlike most others on this site though, this goal setting page might actually be useful to the outside observer.
No promises. You can tell me.

Societal Malware
The modern world is like an endless assault on our ancient minds. Find and replace all the bad programming.
Automate Action
Copy and paste habits that help you get things done and approach your goals with robotic efficiency.
There’s a lot that goes into rewiring your brain for success. Here’s a quick look at what the self brainwashing process has been like for me.
Learn with Me
I’m an avid self-brainwasher.
In fact, I don’t know where I’d be without it.
A few years ago, I realized I needed a factory reset on my mind. Since then, I’ve consistently looked at ways to optimize brain function and improve my Mindset.
It’s not the easiest task. The human mind is complex and sometimes unpredictable. It’s a puzzle, to be sure.
Luckily, I find both interesting and rewarding.
I’ve been able to change many aspects of how I operate in the world, like transforming myself from a Night Owl to an Early Bird. That’s something no one who knew me in my teens or 20s would not have thought possible.  😂
It’s also helped me create content regularly, as demonstrated by This Site.
My Experience
I’m definitely better than most here.
Yet I don’t consider myself a master by any means.
I maintain a handful of fairly consistent self-brainwashing habits. However, I discover new things about the human brain and my own mind almost every week!
I’ve been able to identify several keys.
First and foremost, my Morning Routine is paramount. My morning protocol is chock full of positive influences (and actions) designed to get my days off to a dominant start.
I use habit tracking to measure the affects and incorporate new tweaks to perfect my programs.
It’s been instrumental in my Personal Growth to this point. And I’m sure it will continue to be.

Overachiever's Toolkit
Self brainwashing is a difference maker. With it, you can transform both your internal state and your external impact on the world.
Where Self Brainwashing Fits in a Good Life
Self brainwashing is one of the secret weapons in the Overachiever’s Toolkit.
That makes it a “Tier 3” concept, on the same level as my Morning Routines and Bullet Journaling.
It is probably most closely tied to Personal Growth.

Brainwashing Yourself Into Fulfilling Your Potential
For self brainwashing newbies:
This idea might sound a little more sinister than it is.
In truth, it is empowering.
You can’t say the same about the brainwashing that comes from society.
If you want to live a great life, you need to limit negative inputs that come from hip hop, social media, reality TV, and the news. Too often, cultural influences steer us in the wrong direction. Not only do they distract us from our Life Purpose, they often make it seem as though Achievement is a magical phenomenon reserved for the chosen few. Or worse, these influences convince us that greatness is downright impossible.
Fortunately, the mainstream has it wrong.
The reality is this:
We know what separates High Performers from everyone else. It’s things like Self Discipline, Mindset, and Habits.
Luckily, you can cultivate all of these and more.
That’s what self brainwashing is all about.
The concept is fairly simple.
You can modify, tweak, and tune your own operating system. Delete negative programs and replace them with positive ones. The power to improve your Character is in your hands. To a degree, you can even revamp your Personality (or at least make changes in relation to it).
Perhaps most importantly, self brainwashing can help you change your beliefs—especially about yourself and what you are capable of. This makes brainwashing yourself an especially potent Personal Growth tool.
Successful people understand that if they don’t program themselves, the world will do it for them.
As they say, “Garbage in; garbage out.” But that also implies the opposite. If you put gold in, you will get gold out.
Therefore, you can either take what life gives you or you can take personal responsibility.
This goes beyond achieving great things.
Self brainwashing is also useful for those seeking peace and Happiness. Very often, Childhood Trauma and other factors shape our Self Identity in negative ways. Insights from Neuroscience and Psychology can help us resolve these issues. Soon, the spread of cutting-edge therapies like EMDR, Brainspotting, and Neurostimulation will give us even more opportunities to rewire our minds.
There are also other, more holistic ways to impact your brain chemistry. For example, foods high in omega-3s have brain-related benefits, including increased neuroplasticity. If you wanted, you could take this even further with Nootropics, which are like PEDs for your brain. In fact, you may find many insights from the Biohacking community that can help you brainwash yourself more effectively. After all, biohacking is basically just engineering your diet and other routines for optimal results (whatever your goals are).
The science is important.
But you don’t have to go all the way down the rabbit hole.
Never discount the more conventional Habits elite performers swear by.
A few of the simplest ways to tweak your own code:
- Create a Journaling habit.
- Start Meditating
- Learn how to Set Goals.
- Use Affirmations.
- Practice Gratitude.
- Listen to Moticuts.
- Visualize your future.
- Read good Stories.
- Study High Performance.
- Attend Mastermind groups.
Some of these may help increase your Productivity and achieve greater things. Others may simply improve your Mental Health and Happiness.
What’s more, most of these practices can be combined to compound their affects. That’s why so many High Performance Coaches recommend adding several of these habits to your Morning Routine. Some of the real heavy hitters even suggest creating a nightly routine and injecting them into that as well.Â
If you’re a real nut (like me), you might even start Tracking Your Habits. Documentation may be the only way to get the full picture of your self brainwashing progress.
It’s up to you how far down the rabbit hole you go. But the sooner you begin to take control of your own programming, the better.
So find a few self-brainwashing techniques that speak to you and get started.
How to Brainwash Yourself Step-By-Step
01
Discover Your Why
The first step to brainwashing yourself the right way is to decide (or discover) who you want to become. This requires a degree of Self Awareness. You need to have an understanding of your strengths, weaknesses, and Motivations to give your Personal Growth purpose.
02
Environment Control
Your environment has a large affect on both your mental state and behavior. So get rid of negative influences, whether that’s certain foods, music, social media, or anything else. Consider your spaces carefully. Even subtle tweaks can make a significant difference.
03
Master the Morning
Self brainwashing is especially effective in the morning, when you’re most impressionable. Brainwash yourself into having a great day by incorporating the right inputs into your Morning Routine. Work out, Meditate, Journal, listen to Moticuts—whatever makes sense for you.
04
Make Writing a Habit
There is a power in writing things down. So it’s no wonder that Journaling is one of the most common self brainwashing tools. It can help you develop more Self Awareness, increase Productivity, refine Critical Thinking skills, and improve Decision Making.
05
Find Your Heroes
Modern media is full of degeneracy, drama, and the worst aspects of humanity. Don’t follow the crowd. Instead, inundate yourself with video, books, and other content that inspire you. Take advantage of the access we have to so many of the greatest minds of our time.
06
Set Massive Goals
Life doesn’t necessarily have purpose and meaning by default. You have to find (or create) that for yourself. It can take time and effort to figure out what you want deep down. But time spent in such introspection is a key step in propogating sustained Motivation.
08
Forgive Everything
Holding grudges is one of the most surefire ways to make yourself miserable. Unfortunately, Forgiving others (or yourself) isn’t always straightforward.  We often hold onto things without even knowing it. Clear the clutter of negative emotions and unleash your brain.
Remember: just start. Realizing you have the power to mold your brain puts you ahead of most people; making it a mission puts you in the top 10%.

Everything you’d ever want to know about brainwashing yourself can be found online.
I’m no high performance titan. I stand on the shoulders of giants. I simply listen to what my Heroes say and apply it. Not everything sticks. But enough does to make a lasting impact.

One of the main purposes of This Site is to catalog my learnings. I’m not that learned. But I’m working on becoming moreso. If you see a “data dump” on this site, you’re looking at unsorted information. It may be related or completely unrelated, depending on the topic.

How I Brain Wash Myself to Unlock My Potential
If you haven’t noticed, I take this stuff seriously.
You don’t have to do it like me. But maybe you wanna know. So I guess I’ll tell you. You might have picked some of it up by reading through this page or clicking on some of the links.
I’ll spell it all out here.
Breakfast of Champions
My mornings are sacred. I try to maintain a Morning Routine that includes Moticuts, Gratitude, Affirmations, Daily Planning, and some form of fitness training. Nine times out of ten, this kind of soul food is my only breakfast. My main aim is to maximize Deep Work. So once I’m done, I get straight to work—first for myself, then for my clients.
Auditory Exposure
I go out of my way to control what things I hear throughout any given day. I try to marinate my mind in motivational messaging and High Performance advice, especially in the morning. Meanwhile, I try to avoid things feed into my hedonistic tendencies like hip hop and social media. When I do listen to music, it is typically of the Hippie variety.
Goal & Fear Setting
Building Self Discipline is one of the main things I brainwash myself for. Unfortunately, I’m just not that disciplined yet. I still rely heavily on day-to-day Motivation to maintain peak form. That’s one of the reasons Goal Setting is so important for me. I use a variety of practices to keep the things I’m pursuing (and running from) at the top of my mind.
Bull Sh!t Allergy
I want to become as Distraction and Procrastination-proof as possible. It may even be the most important aspect of my self brainwashing. To that end, I can be a bit OCD about my Environment. After all, it’s harder to get distracted when you have less distractions around you. That’s why I haven’t even had a TV in my house for most of my adult life.
This Site & My Other Projects
Self brainwashing is part of the purpose behind pages like the one you’re reading. For example, creating content around Achievement and Character helps me develop my personal ethos (and stay in alignment with it). In fact, working on most of My Brands helps me brainwash myself. And with names like Make Your Brain Better, you can see why.
Interconnected Habits
I try to stack complementary Habits on top of each other. The goal is a web of positive inputs—for mind, body, heart, and spirit. They work synergistically, compounding the effects. Plus, many of them are tied together in my brain to a point nearing automatisms. As long as I knock out one or two of my Keystone Habits, the rest fall like dominoes.
