My Own Research

I am the definition of a know-it-all.  Hopefully, someone else can use that to their advantage.  These pages are to cataloging my learnings.

Opinions of Same

I am a master of unsolicited advice.  Frankly, it’s annoying.  An outlet for self-expression, I hope this site will help me become a better listener.

Video Breakdowns

I consume hundreds of hours of video training, keynotes, and other education content.  Timestamping content helps me learn and teach others.

Top 12 Pieces to the SEO Puzzle

01

SEMRush

Quality content is the first pillar of SEO.  If you want to be known about a topic, you need content about it.  Nowadays, that content has to be the best.  That trend will only continue into the 2020s—and beyond.

02

Google Analytics

Vishen may be the man I look up to more than any other.  His mission of education reform may be the most important of any of my heroes.  Over the long-term he may be the favorite for the top spot.

03

Google Search Console

Naruto is the most inspiring character I’ve ever come across.  What I’ve learned from him is unique.  And yet, his story seems inevitable, almost perfect.  Watching Naruto, I felt as if it was written from my own heart.

04

Moz

To this point, I might have learned more from Brian Johnson than any other person on the planet.  He has created a library of classic and modern teachings on becoming the best you and living your best life.

05

Local Citation Finder

Brendon Burchard is one of the world’s leading high performance coaches.  Before I met Gary Vee, I filled my house with Brendon’s voice almost everyday.  His content was the first I used to brainwash myself.

06

Serped

Nahko is probably my favorite musician today.  I use his music to heal and connect with my highest self.  There are others I use in the same way.  Yet much Naruto’s story, Nahko’s music often feels written just for me.

07

SEO Powersuite

Tom is one of the dark horses for top spot over the long term.  Similar to Vishen, much of that has to do with the weight of his mission.  He wants to “break people out of the Matrix” through entertainment.  Smart and strong.

08

Raven Tools

Grant Cardone makes this list because he is one of the most important voices for financial freedom on the planet today.  This makes him another dark horse for my top five over the long-term.  After all, money is hard.

09

Majestic

David Goggins may be the most inspiring person on the planet today.  He’s definitely in the running for toughest.  This man sets an example few could truly follow but almost anyone could learn from.

10

Ah Refs

Much like Brendon Burchard, Les Brown’s voice has filled my home on many occasions.  He is a staple of many of the best moticuts.  There is true power in his words—and the personal stories those words invoke.

Learn With Me

Most people know Gary as “that social media guy.”

For me personally, he’s a lot more.

But I’ll get to that.  First, let’s start with a…

My Progress So Far

More than anyone else:

Gary is the reason I started creating hero profiles.

Now that I’ve started, I see that his profile may be less useful than my other heroes to other people.  But his will likely always remain the most important to me.

I fucking love this dude.  He changed my life.

More accurately, he teamed up with Nahko to save my life.

I’m not quite sure when I found him.  I featured him all the way back in one of my first posts for Greensboro SEO Pro.

Why SEO?

For the time being, this site is mostly just a data dump.  Over time, it may become more useful to the outside observer.  Who knows?

I don’t claim to be an expert on anyone I write about.

Hell, I hardly claim to be an expert on myself.

These profiles are largely for me.  I use them to record and reference.  In the future, I may make them more meaningful to the outside observer.

No guarantees.  Let’s start small.

Career Path

This is an odd way to put it.  But it’s the only phrase that captures the entire bucket.  Gary thinks like a Scorpio.

Going For the GoAt

Many of my heroes talk about company culture.  Gary’s idea of a “Honey Empire” is one of the best.

Experts Don’t Exist

Most people know Gary as “that social media guy.”  Makes sense.  He’s one of–if not the–best at it on the planet.

Satisfies Curiosity

Gary wants to buy the Jets.  Big dream, but he has a practical plan for it.  Luckily, he is documenting the journey.

My Money Mastery Content

Gary Vee’s 4 Ds Meeting Videos are AMAZING!!!

There's a lot of great business content online. I might have consumed an unhealthy amount of it already. Now, I'm more on the application side. So PBD at Valuetainment gets more of my watchtime than anyone else right now.  Actionable advice to the extreme. It might be...

How to Become a Morning Person [Life-Changing Habit #1]

How to Become a Morning Person [Life-Changing Habit #1]

Becoming a "morning person" has changed my life. Only time will tell, but it could go down as a top five factor to my future success. Learning how to wake up early wasn't easy. Until the second half of 2018, I've been a notoriously late sleeper. It started as a kid: I...

How Gary Vee and Nahko Bear Teamed Up to Save My Life

Once upon a time, I was in a deep, dark place. It was completely self-imposed. I loved a girl.  She gave me the world's greatest kids. But I was a dick.  So she ran away with them.  Good on her. It fucking huuuuuuuuurt though. It almost did me in. How? It took me so...

My Month in Personal Growth – July 2018

Two weeks and some change late. No biggie. This thang bout to get shipped though. At the end of July, I took off to Arizona.  Predictably, it's gotten me behind on few things. These posts are basically useless to anyone who I'm not close with.  So it makes sense to...

My Month in Personal Growth – April 2018

4 months down... ...no telling how many I have left to go. Certainly, I'll be growing every month from now until my dying day.  But how long will I do this series? Nobody knows.  Not even me haha But I will commit to all of 2018. I need to practice consistency...

My Month in Personal Growth – February 2018

Yaaaaaaaaaaay! I made it to my second monthly personal growth post! A year from now, these posts will be a great resource.  Again, I'm all about brainwashing myself.  Repetition helps.  So I will use this this partially as a record of all of my favorite talks.  Last...

My Month in Personal Growth – January 2018

As I mentioned in my Grateful as Fnck post: I'm going to try to start a regular blogging habit. It's about time.  After all, I've had high-paying copywriting clients for several years now.  I should have started writing for myself when I first began my work from home...

Okay.  Okay.  Okay. I know.  I know.  I know. I need to start writing on this blog. And while this post may not connect well to any of the bigger things I want to do with my life, it is connected to my life. Ya see? I have a daily gratitude practice... ...and it has...
